Environment Institute for Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands
The Study of the United States Institute (SUSI) on the Environment for Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands will provide a group of approximately 20 undergraduate students from Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands with an understanding of the environmental movement in the United States by examining advocacy, market, policy, cultural, and scientific approaches to environmental issues. Participants will explore the interrelationship of various approaches in developing sustainable pathways to environmental stewardship. The institute’s theme of environmental stewardship embraces a diversity of actors (from regulators to activists and businesses) involved in the environmental movement. It will also capture the dynamic nature of the challenges at hand and the need for active leadership to deal with them.
The SUSI on the Environment for Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands is hosted by the East-West Center and will take place in the summer of 2009.How To Apply
