This is an example of the kind of flag used particularly during the 18th century with the images of the founders of the religious orders of the saint who is carrying it. The banderole is a rectangular piece with a triangular cut in one of the minor sides. Most commonly they are made of laminated silver with incisions and hammering. The rod is also in silver.
