| Characterized by red-purple designs (specular hematite) over on an orange slipped background. Exterior surface is smooth and highly polished (glossy and satiny). Forms include bowls, jars and cylinders. Exterior motifs are geometric glyphs, figures (usually in a profile seated position) and animals (monkeys are the most common on bowl forms).
