By the People, For the People has two parts. Part I contains 25 chapters which describe the structure of the federal, state and local governments. Part II contains five chapters on citizenship education, including the responsibilities and rights of citizens, voting, requirements for naturalization, and national symbols. There are activities for students to practice all four skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing). Most of the lessons have five parts: pre-reading, information, reading, testing, and review.
