Fulbright Classroom Teacher Exchange Program

The Fulbright Classroom Teacher Exchange provides opportunities for primary and secondary teachers to exchange positions with colleagues in other countries. The participants contribute to mutual understanding by bringing international knowledge and perspectives to the United States and foreign classrooms, schools and communities.
Full-time U.S. teachers can take part in either a year-long or semester-long direct exchange with a counterpart in one of the following countries: Czech Republic, France, Hungary, Mexico, India, Switzerland, or the United Kingdom.

Eligibility Requirements
Elementary through high school teachers are eligible to apply. However please see the Participating Countries listing for country specific eligibility requirements.
All applicants must be:
- A U.S. citizen;
- Fluent in English;
- A full-time teacher in the United States or one of its territories;
- In at least the fifth year of full-time teaching;
- Have a Bachelor's degree at the time of application;
- Able to meet current J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board (FSB) eligibility requirements regarding previous grants. Previous Fulbright recipients who completed a grant of eight weeks or less in 2009 or earlier are eligible to apply. Applicants must also not have received more than the lifetime limit of two Fulbright grants (eight weeks or more = 1 grant; eight weeks or less = ½ grant).
The Distinguished Fulbright Awards in Teaching sends select U.S. primary and secondary school teachers abroad for three to six months and brings international teachers to the United States for a semester. Visit the FulbrightTeacherExchange.org website for more information.
