U.S - France Teachers-In-Training Exchange Program

The U.S. - France Teachers in Training Exchange Program provides international professional development opportunities for French and American teachers as they begin their teaching careers. Pre-service teachers from France participate in a seminar on American history, culture, and society at the University of Akron followed by a two-month practicum in Ohio state secondary schools.  A reciprocal group of U.S. student teachers travel to France for an analogous program and teach U.S. history, geography and English to French students.  The program reaches French and American classrooms in disadvantaged communities in both countries.  In addition, the program enables French students to learn first-hand about American society, history, and culture from American teachers, as well as American schoolchildren receive a more complete and accurate image of France. The program is supported in cooperation with ECA, the French Ministry of Education and the Fulbright Commission in Paris.
