Fulbright Foreign Student Washington Seminar

The annual Fulbright Foreign Student Enrichment Seminar series, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), is currently taking place in cities across the United States, with the Washington, D.C. seminar to be held March 16-20. The Washington, D.C. seminar has the theme "Challenges and Choices for the 109^th Congress."

This is the fourth of a series of seven regional programs designed to engage foreign Fulbright students. This seminar focuses on the challenges and choices the new Congress faces in regard to education policies, national security, and intelligence policies. These seminars provide foreign Fulbrighters, who are graduate students selected for their academic achievements and leadership potential, with a forum to discuss various issues pertaining to U.S. society in each of the cities where seminars are held. Seminars have already taken place in Tempe, New Orleans, and San Francisco. Themes and dates for the remaining seminars include:

• Chicago, IL, March 31 - April 3 -- Exploring Politics and Diversity
• Boulder, CO, March 31 - April 3 -- The Changing Face of the American West
• New York, NY, April 7 - 10 -- Rethinking the Melting Pot: Immigration and American Society in the 21st Century

Approximately 140 foreign students are participating in each of the Fulbright Enrichment Seminars, along with ten recently returned U.S. Fulbright alumni. The students are currently studying at colleges and universities throughout the United States and represent 75 countries and diverse fields of study.
