Department of State Offers Grants for Professional,
Cultural Exchanges
The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), U.S. Department
of State, is pleased to announce the publication of its annual
solicitation for U.S. non-governmental organizations to conduct
professional and cultural exchange programs with countries around
the world, to advance the ECA mission of increasing mutual understanding
between the people of the United States and the people of other
countries. Funded projects will promote citizen participation
in government, engage youth and youth influencers, and spur cultural
exchanges, as well as establish long-term collaborations between
U.S. institutions and foreign counterparts.
The announcement was published on Tuesday, December 12 in the
Federal Register and on Grants.gov. The full text of the announcement
is available on the ECA website at http://exchanges.state.gov/education/rfgps/febu16rfgp.htm
and online at http://www.access.gpo.gov/su_docs/fedreg/frcont06.html
and http://www.grants.gov/. The deadline for project proposals
is February 16, 2007. Grant awards will be announced in the summer
of 2007.
This year, for the first time, the Bureau of Educational and
Cultural Affairs’ Office of Citizen Exchanges announced
its professional exchanges competition and its cultural exchanges
competition in the same announcement. In 2006, organizations across
the United States submitted over 200 proposals in the two categories.
The list of 2006 grant awards in these categories is available
at http://exchanges.state.gov/education/citizens/grants.htm
