Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs Exchange Programs

1. Edward R. Murrow Program

   U.S. Department of State's Edward R. Murrow Program for Journalists brings approximately 150 emerging international journalists from around the world to examine journalistic practices in the United States. The Murrow program is an innovative public-private partnership between the Department of State and several leading U.S. schools of journalism.

2. African Women Entrepreneurship Program (AWEP)

   Through the AWEP exchange, approximately 40 African women entrepreneurs each year attend professional development meetings and network with U.S. policy makers, companies and industry associations, non-profit groups, and development organizations.

3. A New Beginning

   A New Beginning builds ties between American entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs from around the globe. Each year, the initiative brings 30 leading entrepreneurs to the United States to exchange best practices with American business owners, investors, government officials, educators and other business stakeholders.

4. International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP)

   Through short-term visits to the United States, current and emerging foreign leaders in a variety of fields experience this country firsthand and cultivate lasting relationships with their American counterparts.

5. Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program

   The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program provides grants to approximately 850 foreign scholars from over 100 countries to conduct post-doctoral research at U.S. institutions from an academic semester to a full academic year.

6. American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL)

   American Council of Young Political Leaders programs provide a chance for people to come to the U.S. to promote mutual understanding, respect, and friendship and to cultivate long-lasting relationships among young people who are poised to become tomorrow's global leaders and policy makers.
