Detailed Language Program Information

In 2014 and 2015, the NSLI-Y program will offer short-term (6-8 week) summer and long-term (8-10 month) academic year programs in the following languages:

For the 2014-2015 programs, applicants may choose and rank up to three languages and two program lengths. Applicants may not specify an exact location or state a preference for a specific program implementer. Participants in all programs live and study in countries where the target languages are spoken, and can expect a rigorous language-focused program designed to develop and enhance skills in the target language. NSLI-Y programs immerse students in the language and culture of the host country through formal and informal education and daily interaction with host country families and communities.

The U.S. Department of State works with selected U.S. non-profit organizations which partner with host organizations and institutions overseas to implement an array of diverse programs for NSLI-Y.  For more detailed information, visit the NSLI-Y website.
