ExchangesConnect Encourages GCE Teachers to Discuss Their Experiences
|
ECA’s new social networking site, ExchangesConnect, has brought together teachers who have been trained to use technology through various Global Connections programs. Responding to a forum titled “Share Your Exchange Experience,” a teacher from Azerbaijan wrote, “I want to say that, Global Connections and Exchange and Internet in general influenced my life positively making me not only think locally but globally. Now I am in USA in Nebraska State by TEA program.” From Kenya, GCE teacher Grace Mulei wrote about some challenges such as “costs, energy inefficiency, internet infrastructures, handicaps, and internet illiteracy.” She writes that some teachers “travel over sixty kilometers to access the net. Return journey to the net takes the whole day!” Ibrohim, a GCE teacher in Tajikistan, writes about how happy people in his community were when the Internet Learning Center opened in his school and how the use of technology has impacted his life. “Thanks to GCE, the world for me become a small village the inhabitants of which should live in harmony and peace being prepared for every new common known challenges and difficulties.” To read the teachers’ comments, see: http://connect.state.gov/forum/topics/2118480:Topic:1264
