Additional Opportunity for High School Students

STARTALK seeks to increase the number of Americans learning, speaking and teaching critical need languages by offering elementary-through-high-school-aged students and teachers a creative and engaging summer experience.

Undergraduate and Graduate Language Programs

The Critical Language Scholarships for Intensive Summer Institutes Program provides fully-funded 7 to 10 week group-based intensive language instruction and extensive cultural enrichment experiences. The overseas program is open to beginning, intermediate and advanced undergraduate, Master’s and Ph.D. students.

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program provides awards for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell to participate in study abroad programs worldwide.

Fulbright U.S. Student Program has provided almost 300,000 participants — chosen for their academic merit and leadership potential — with the opportunity to study, teach and conduct research, exchange ideas and contribute to finding solutions to shared international concerns.

The Language Flagship offers students intensive language instruction to enhance their academic degrees. Programs are available at both undergraduate and post-baccalaureate levels and include periods of rigorous language and cultural immersion at overseas flagship centers.

The National Security Education Program (NSEP) is designed to build a broader and more qualified pool of U.S. citizens with foreign language and international skills.
