In partnership with USA Track and Field and the Oregon Track Club, the U.S Department of State organized a dynamic track and field program to empower women and girls. Participants came from The Bahamas, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, and Trinidad & Tobago to the U.S. for a track and field exchange program from June 18 to 28, 2012. As part of the Empowering Women and Girls through Sports Initiative, these female athletes participated in teambuilding and nutrition sessions as well as running clinics alongside their American counterparts in D.C. They also had an opportunity to attend the USA Track& Field Olympic trials in Eugene, Oregon.
