Milica Knezevic, a CIEE A-SMYLE student from Montenegro, has thoroughly impressed her host community with her enthusiasm and commitment. Milica is an excellent student. She speaks Spanish and Italian, has joined the Math Team, and has given presentations about her home country and culture to classmates and teachers in her Creative Writing, Chemistry, and Algebra classes.

During September Milica served over 20 hours of community service. She prepared packages of food for People Attempting to Help (PATH), a local organization that provides food and relief benefits to those in need. On Saturday mornings, Milica helps at the local farmers market and she also volunteers at the Greater York Chamber of Commerce, where she provides clerical assistance.

Milica and her host sister from Germany met with the Board of Directors of Keep York County Beautiful. They discussed recycling and community beautification efforts in their home country communities. In October Milica volunteered to clean local “right-of-ways” with the organization’s Adopt-a-Highway program and assisted the Yorkville Historical Society in their effort to preserve and rehabilitate the old York County Courthouse.

Milica’s exchange year is off to a wonderful start and she is already an accomplished student ambassador for Montenegro and A-SMYLE.

Congratulations, Milica!
