had the strongest impact on my community
is just being there with the people, talking to them,
being part of their lives, and them being part of my life,
and this has made the experience very enriching.
They've told me that because of the
more student-centered classes that I
teach, it's inspired them to take that type of
teaching into their own field.
Five years later, after being a Fellow
really the greatest contributions to the community are the friendships that I
and the longer term relationships between
people from different cultures.
When I'm in the US I feel like
there are so many teachers that are well-trained
nd know what they're doing that you just feel like
your job isn't as special as when you
do it in a foreign country and the teachers that you meet,
things that you've been doing for years, they seem to think
and need to be introduced into their classroom.
I think one of the goals of the fellowship program
is to build mutual understanding.
But when you become a Fellow you build the lifelong friendships
and also you are developing relationships through education
