The Community Engagement Exchange (CEE)

The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) has just launched a bold new civil society initiative: the Community Engagement Exchange (CEE) Program. The CEE Program equips emerging civil society leaders with the expertise, resources, and skills to support resilient communities around the world.

Stevens Initiative

The Stevens Initiative was launched in 2015 as a living memorial and to continue the legacy of U.S. Ambassador to Libya J. Christopher Stevens, who studied abroad in Europe and served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Morocco. The Initiative is a public-private partnership that is building global competencies and 21st century skills for young people in the United States and the Middle East and North Africa. Through virtual exchange, the Initiative connects youth through technology to collaborate and learn together, giving them access to a substantive international exchange. Through an open competition managed by the Aspen Institute, sub-grants are awarded to organizations to implement virtual exchanges.

Congress-Bundestag Vocational Youth Exchange

Graduating high school seniors spend a year in Germany living with a host family and participate in an internship with a German company.

Critical Language Scholarship Program

The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program provides overseas foreign language instruction and cultural enrichment experiences in 13 critical need languages for U.S. students in higher education.

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program provides scholarships to U.S. undergraduates with financial need for study abroad, including students from diverse backgrounds and students going to non-traditional study abroad destinations.

Fulbright U.S. Student Program

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers fellowships for U.S. graduating college seniors, graduate students, young professionals and artists to study, conduct research or be an English teaching assistant abroad for one academic year.
