At-a-Glance

Now in its sixth season, DanceMotionSM will send three contemporary American dance companies to three regions in 2017. These locations include: Côte d'Ivoire, Ethiopia, Tunisia, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Panama, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
 
Season six features the following companies and world regions:
KEIGWIN + COMPANY, based in New York, NY, will travel to Côte d'Ivoire, Ethiopia, and Tunisia.
Reggie Wilson/Fist and Heel Performance Group, based in Brooklyn, NY, will travel to the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Panama.
Stephen Petronio Company, based in New York, NY, will travel to Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
 
The Brooklyn Academy of Music was selected through an open grant competition to implement season six of DanceMotionSMParticipating companies embark on four-week-long international performance and exchange residencies. The program also includes a professional development program for international dance artists or administrators from the countries included in the tours. 

Program Length

Each residency lasts approximately one month.

Eligibility and Application Overview

There is no application for this program. Dance companies and countries are selected by a panel of dance experts, as well as representatives from the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and the grantee organization. DanceMotion USA participants should be:

  • U.S. citizens;
  • At least 21 years old.
