The Community College Initiative (CCI) Program provides opportunities for individuals from countries including Brazil, Cameroon, Costa Rica, Egypt, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Pakistan, Panama, South Africa and Turkey to develop leadership, professional skills and English language proficiency, while studying at a community college in the United States.
Participants study in one of the following eligible fields: agriculture, applied engineering, business management and administration, allied health care, information technology, media, and tourism and hospitality management. CCI Program participants are recruited from historically underserved populations.
Participants spend one academic year in the United States and may earn certificates in their fields of study. After completing the program, participants return home with new skills and expertise to help them contribute to the economic growth and development of their country.
Application Details: The recruitment, selection and nomination of candidates in the eligible countries is administered by the Fulbright Commission or the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy.
Program Partners: Since the establishment of the program in 2006, more than 50 community colleges have hosted more than 1700 participants. Three community college consortia currently administer the program in cooperation with the Bureau:
