Teachers of Critical Languages Program

The Teachers of Critical Languages Program (TCLP) brings teachers from China and Egypt to eligible U.S. elementary and secondary schools to teach Chinese and Arabic for an academic year. American students benefit from having native Chinese and Arabic speakers in the classroom and from a broadened foreign language curriculum. The program is administered by American Councils for International Education and additional program information may be found on the American Councils website.

Eligibility Requirements
U.S. host school applicants must:

  • Have a developing or existing Chinese or Arabic foreign language program; and
  • Have a plan for the exchange teacher to strengthen the host school's Chinese or Arabic language program

Application Deadline
The application deadlines for international applications and for U.S. host schools have both passed for the 2012-2013 exchange.

Please visit the American Councils website, which administers the program, for a copy of the application and additional information. International applicants should also visit the American Councils website for specific information.
