Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Program

Vice President Biden greets American and German CBYX implementing organizations

The Congress–Bundestag Youth Exchange Program (CBYX) offers German and American students a fully-funded academic year abroad. Participating students develop critical intercultural skills while learning what it's like to live and attend school in Germany.

Eligibility Requirements

All applicants must:

  • Be U.S. citizens, national or permanent residents;
  • Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale;
  • Be between the ages of 15 and 18 by the start of the program;
  • Prior German language skills are not required.
Application Deadline

Post-Secondary CBYX Programs

The Vocational Component is for graduating American high-school seniors who are 18-years-old at the start of the program. Participants study for one semester and participate in internship programs. For more information, visit Nacel Open Door.

The Young Professionals Component is for students between the ages of 18 and 24, who wish to study for a semester and participate in internship programs. For more information, visit Cultural Vistas.
