Sports Diplomacy: Kazakhstan Boxing Diplomacy

A delegation of 12 Kazakhstani boxers and trainers traveled to the United States to visit community boxing programs and the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville, Kentucky.

The group went on a DC tour visiting the famous landmarks including the Washington Monument while learning about the history of the nation’s capital.

Middle Eastern Soccer Coaches Team-Up for Sports Exchange in the U.S.

Organized alongside the excitement of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Sports Diplomacy hosted a Sports Visitor soccer program for coaches from Libya, Tunisia, Egypt, and Yemen.

Empowering Women and Girls through Sports: When Final Four Is Only the Start

On April 6, the first annual UN International Day of Sport for Development and Peace synced with the midpoint of the U.S. Department of State's 2014 NCAA Women’s Final Four Basketball Program, a flagship multi-nation sports visitor program, administered under the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs’ Empowering Women and Girls through Sports Initiative.

The players take part in a games and skills practice with Special Olympic athletes.

Basketball Youth Visitors: Indonesia in Action

From March 17 to 29, ECA led an action-packed basketball program with 12 Indonesian teenage basketball players—six boys and six girls—and two coaches.
