   2017 SUSI Alum Walid Elhout is “Working for a Better University Life”

   Walis Elhout’s participation in the Study of the U.S. Institute for Student Leaders on Civic Engagement at Bard College proved to be a transformative experience, one that has revolutionized his work greatly since returning home to Gaza.

4. The Community Engagement Exchange (CEE)

   The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) has just launched a bold new civil society initiative: the Community Engagement Exchange (CEE) Program. The CEE Program equips emerging civil society leaders with the expertise, resources, and skills to support resilient communities around the world.

5. January 2025 CBYX German Participant of the Month

   We are pleased to announce Julian Schmid as the January 2025 Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) German Participant of the Month! Julian, a CBYX Young Professionals program participant from Schongau, Bavaria and placed by Cultural Vistas, is hosted by the Ramsey Family in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

6. Fashion and the English Language

   As a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) in Malaysia, Lynn ElHarake faced the challenge of making the English language learning process interesting for her students. So she decided a good solution would be to merge her interests in fashion with English lessons.

7. Creating Change for the Disabled

   Yerasyl Toleugazimov, a citizen of Kazakhstan, spent his junior year of high school in Lacey and summarized his experience saying, "I learned new things that changed me."

8. FLEX Student of the Month – October 2014

   In addition to joining six clubs since the start of the school year, Kamila has volunteered over 50 hours in her host community, calling helping people the "main goal" in her life.
