5. 2017 CCI Volunteers Help to Revive Historic Orchard

   

   210 CCI students from the 2016-17 academic year and State Department staff volunteered to revive a historic orchard in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area in the state of Arizona by planting and caring for trees in celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the CCI Program.

   On April 6, the first annual UN International Day of Sport for Development and Peace synced with the midpoint of the U.S. Department of State's 2014 NCAA Women’s Final Four Basketball Program, a flagship multi-nation sports visitor program, administered under the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs’ Empowering Women and Girls through Sports Initiative.

   Access Alumni Serve as Interpreters During Medical Mission

   Through the Access alumni's interpretation services, medical volunteers were able to provide 1,600 Guatemalans with medication assistance.

10. Sports Diplomacy: Kazakhstan Boxing Diplomacy

    

    A delegation of 12 Kazakhstani boxers and trainers traveled to the United States to visit community boxing programs and the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville, Kentucky.
