1. A-SMYLE Student of the Month – May 2015

   Milica Jovanovic, a CIEE-placed American Serbia and Montenegro Youth Leadership Exchange (A-SMYLE) student from Serbia, was an active member of her host community, volunteering for over 100 hours, participating in the school musical and the swim and dive team, and holding presentations about Serbian history and culture.

2. American Abroad Student of the Month - May 2015

   Precious King, American Abroad Student of the Month for May, radiates ambassadorial spirit and contributes to her community in Accra, Ghana through volunteering, learning the local languages, participating in sports at her school, and joining in local dance traditions.

3. A-SMYLE Student of the Month – September 2015

   Tamara, a student from Serbia, carries an ambitious attitude and friendly personality, placing her amongst the brightest and most respectful students at her school.

4. A-SMYLE Student of the Month – October 2015

   Nermina, a CIEE placed American Serbia and Montenegro Youth Leadership Exchange (A-SMYLE) student from Montenegro, is an exceptional student, volunteer, and host daughter enjoying her exchange year with a smile on her face and ambition in her heart.

5. P2P: Challenging Extremism Together

   To combat the spread of hateful and deceptive propaganda, the U.S. government is investing in creative ways to work with civil society and academia to challenge the rhetoric. The P2P (Peer to Peer): Challenging Extremism initiative is a leading example.

6. FLEX Student of the Month – December 2015

   Georgian high schooler Manana is an excellent student, a dedicated volunteer at the local senior living home, a member of several school clubs, and an enthusiastic ambassador for her country's language and culture.

7. American Abroad Student of the Month - January 2016

   Melita quickly integrated into her host community by reaching out to her Chinese classmates and made great strides in her language learning progress, even giving interviews about her experience in Chinese to local media.

8. American Abroad Student of the Month - February 2016

   Matt’s commitment to immersing himself into his host community and his love for Bosnia are highlighted in press and TV interviews. Matt is learning to play a traditional instrument (the tamburica), participates in religious and social events and workshops, volunteers at the local soup kitchen, kindergarten, high school association, and the U.S. Embassy’s American Corner, and is learning how to make traditional dishes.
