1. Creating Space for Chinese Culture in California

   Through his NSLI-Y experience in Suzhou, Ben immersed himself in the language and culture he had only been able to explore from a distance.

6. Discovering Chinese Culture through Music

   Vanessa studied Chinese the summer of 2012 in Suzhou, China as a National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) participant and was introduced to a whole new world.

7. Yes Abroad: Make the World Your Classroom

   

   The YES Abroad program provides merit-based scholarships for eligible high school students to develop a perspective of a Muslim culture first-hand.

   We are pleased to announce Renae George as the May 2023 CBYX U.S. Participant of the Month! Renae, a Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) Vocational participant recruited by Nacel Open Door, is hosted by the Berks family in Berlin.

9. Overcoming the Fear of Public Speaking: Exchange Builds Confidence

   Prior to the academic year Aaron spent in Russia as a National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) participant, he had only given a few speeches to an audience – in English. A native of Portland, ME, Aaron never imagined that during his year abroad he would speak in Russian to an audience of World War II veterans.
