Fellow Facilitates Conversation Group with Blind Adults in Mongolia

English Language Fellow Judy Emerson collaborated with Fulbright English Teaching Assistants Emma Ellis and Marek Muller and Fulbright Scholar Eli Hornsteine to work with physically challenged and blind adults in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

Every Saturday in the Daisy Reading Room of the Ulaanbataar Public Library, English conversation groups have convened to hold informal discussions. Discussion topics have included food, holidays and celebrations, English idioms, relationships, numbers, hopes, and stereotypes. Every week, about ten adult learners attend these discussions to practice their English and learn new expressions from two native English speakers.

Opportunities like this are limited in Mongolia, so it is a unique chance for these learners to practice their English together.
