Working with the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, the U.S. State Department organized a dynamic taekwondo sports program. Thirteen male and female athletes learned about sports in the U.S. through participation in taekwondo activities. In addition to intensive martial arts trainings, the participants engaged in strength clinics as well as sessions on nutrition, conflict resolution, and sports for those with special needs. The program offered the young athletes opportunities to interact with their American peers during visits to Washington, D.C.-area camps.
