1. Rebuilding a Georgian City

   Charlie Bush felt energized when he learned of his acceptance into the ECA Legislative Fellow Program. Charlie, a City Administrator, would be leaving the U.S. and traveling to the Republic of Georgia to exchange ideas on democracy and political participation.

2. Volunteerism in Latin America

   Nathaly's leadership mobilizes her peers to tackle Latin America’s most pressing issues.

3. Study of the U.S. Institutes for Student Leaders

   Study of the United States Institutes for Student Leaders are five-to-six-week academic programs for foreign undergraduate leaders.

4. Uncharted Waters

   

   Beatriz Recinos, an undergraduate student from El Salvador, studied oceanography and geophysics at Humboldt State University in Northern California while participating in the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program.

5. Bumping Up Efforts to Empower Women and Girls Worldwide: Gulf Nations Volleyball Coaches

   

   Under the State Department’s Empowering Women and Girls through Sports Initiative, the Gulf Nations Volleyball Visitor Program brought 10 female volleyball coaches from Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, and Yemen to the U.S. for activities focused on the development of sports programs for women and girls.

6. FLEX Student of the Month – May 2015

   Diana from Turkmenistan volunteered extensively in her host community, gave 15 presentations on Turkmen culture and history, excelled academically earning straight A's, acted in the school musical, and joined many clubs including the Math Club, Future Farmers of America, and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America.

7. UGRAD Alumna Initiates Family Festival at Azerbaijan Carpet Museum

   Global UGRAD alumna Asli Samadova curated the the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum's first two-day family festival that hosted over one thousand people who participated in activities ranging from Children’s Museum features to presentations of recent textile and art projects.

8. FLEX Student of the Month – April 2017

   We are pleased to announce Milica Jordanov, an ASSE-placed, Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) student from Serbia as the April 2017 FLEX Student of the Month. Milica has embraced all parts of the FLEX program with great enthusiasm since she arrived, both in school and in her community.

9. Future Leaders Exchange

   The Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) Program provides scholarships for high school students (ages 15-17) from Europe and Eurasia to spend an academic year in the United States, living with a family and attending an American high school.
