Become a TechWomen Mentor!

video
Women’s issues, as we know, are more than just women’s issues. They’re families’ issues, they’re economic issues, they’re security issues, they’re justice issues. That’s why the Obama Administration has put advancing the status of women and girls right at the center of America’s foreign policy.

The TechWomen program is a professional mentoring exchange. TechWomen is program that brings incredibly talented women in technology from North Africa, SubSaharan Africa, and the Middle East over to the United States with the goal of increasing cultural understanding.

I mean it's a mentoring program, I was a mentor, I had a mentee. But really it was an exchange of information, of knowledge, of wisdom.  And we really ended up inspiring each other I think in equal parts.

There are two types of TechWomen mentors: Professional Mentors and Cultural Mentors.  Professional mentors work with the emerging leaders on a specific project at their host company. Cultural mentors spend time with the emerging leaders outside of the office so that they can take in all the rich traditions and values of the United States.

You should become a TechWomen mentor because you will be inspired, you will learn a lot and you'll expand your global network.

You should become a TechWomen mentor because you are going to get so much more out of it than you can ever imagine.

Your assumptions will be challenged, you will learn amazing things, and you have more within you to contribute to these women and to the growth of women in technology than you ever imagined.
