After being in the United States for only a month, Milica is repeatedly showingher strength of character. Only a few days after arriving, Milica joined her host family in warmly welcoming an exchange student from Spain who will stay with them for a short time. Milica crafted a welcome poster and presented it to the new student upon her arrival at the airport. Milica did all that she could to boost her confidence while she was still acclimating to the new surroundings.
Milica is eager to perform community service to give back to her host community and is already volunteering at the House of Mercy, a thrift store and food bank center, as well as at the local petting zoo where she oversees the baby ducks. Milica has also met with her school’s vice principal to explore new volunteer opportunities.
Milica is enjoying a rich school life. Her main joy is basketball, but she is also embracing the chance to try things that are unavailable to her in Serbia, such as field hockey and Spanish language study. Finally, Milica won first place in a building contest for her architecture and engineering class and first place in the Summer Photo Contest in her yearbook class.
Congratulations Milica!
