   The State Department and NBA worked together to send former WNBA players Tamika Raymond and Nykesha Sales to Ukraine as Sports Envoys from January 28 to February 2, 2013.

   From March 31 to April 7, former U.S. Women’s National Team Soccer Players Linda Hamilton and Kate Sobrero-Markgraf headed up a female-focused sports envoy program in Chile.

   Addressing the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities in China has emerged as a significant foreign policy issue in the twenty-first century.

4. My Extended Minnesota Family

   Fahmida Zaman sometimes missed her family in Bangladesh during her Global Undergraduate Exchange Program experience. She spent the better part of 2012 at St. Catherine University in Minnesota, well removed from her home. But, she is thankful for the connections she made with professors, her “friendship family,” American and international students, and one very memorable meeting with another Bangladeshi.

5. The Language of Dance

   Alana has studied ballet for thirteen years and hopes to become a professional ballet dancer. At an audition for an intensive summer ballet program, she heard about the National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) program implemented by the Russian American Foundation (RAF). This program combines Russian language instruction, cultural immersion, and ballet training with Master Teachers of Moscow’s Bolshoi Ballet Academy.

   Emina Mulic, a World Link A-SMYLE student from Montenegro, is having a full and well-rounded exchange year; in addition to volunteering for several community service organizations, she's an active participant in many school clubs and sports, and creatively shares her Montenegrin culture with friends and classmates.

   Sports Visitors to China Focus on Underserved Populations, Youth with Disabilities

   

   The University of Montana conducted a two-way exchange between participants from the U.S. and China to share best practices, as well as receive training in project management and development.

   Each year the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, in collaboration with the Institute of International Education, releases the list of higher education institutions sending the most Fulbright U.S. students and scholars abroad.

   Zulfiqar (Zulfi) Sheth credits his Community College Initiative (CCI) Program for helping him to excel after returning to India as a student and as a delegate to international youth forums addressing global concerns.
