   The German Bundestag and U.S. Department of State are pleased to announce Kerrie Mahoney as the February Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) U.S. Participant of the Month!

2. May 2023 CBYX German Participant of the Month

   We are pleased to announce Sarah Stock as the May 2023 CBYX German Participant of the Month!  Sarah, a Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) High School participant placed by YFU, is hosted by Katherine Phillips in Fort Gratiot, Michigan.

3. African Disability Rights Advocates

   From the moment Musa Zulu of South Africa stepped off of the airplane at Dulles International Airport outside Washington, D.C., the level of accessibility impressed him, including the lifts installed on public buses. He also noted how in South Africa, traditionally the government and non-profit actors are the primary advocates for the rights of disabled people. He said it is evident that in the United States, the private sector has embraced disability rights.

4. Teachers of Critical Languages

   

   American students learn languages such as Chinese and Arabic from native speakers.

5. Become a TechWomen Mentor!

   

   TechWomen is a program that brings incredibly talented women in technology from North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, and the middle East over to the United States with the goal of increasing cultural understanding.

6. FLEX Student of the Month — November 2013

   Azat Toroev, a PAX student from Kyrgyzstan, participates in many activities at his host school including the History Bowl team and the Mock Trial team as well as volunteering as a peer counselor.

   Access Student Aspires to Be the Change

   Through the English Access Microscholarship Program, Walter Morales has had the opportunity to study English and U.S. culture in his country for the past two years.

9. In Zambia, Inspired by YALI to Promote Peace and Youth

   2010 YALI alumnus Mundia Paul Hakoola currently serves as the Secretary General and a Co-founder of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) in Zambia. This initiative is inspired by the YALI program and seeks to provide leadership opportunities to young Zambians.

10. FLEX Student of the Month – May 2014

    Zhyldyz Omursakova, a World Learning FLEX student from Kyrgyzstan, volunteered over 120 hours of community service this year and regularly volunteered at the Liberty Senior Care Facility, spending time with the elderly residents and organizing fun events such as a Mardi Gras party.
