Jelena, a World Link student from Serbia, is focused and hard-working. During International Education Week (IEW) Jelena gave 11 presentations in her host school and community. She presented information about her home country of Serbia to over 230 elementary, middle, and high school students. She taught the students how to write their names in the Cyrillic alphabet and with the help of several classmates, performed a skit about the Serbian holiday Slava. Jelena taught each classmate one line in Serbian and together they performed a skit the audience immensely enjoyed! As a reward for their hard work, Jelena baked Serbian desserts to share with them.
Jelena actively participates in school and volunteers in her host community. She is a member of the Future Farmers of America (FFA), American Field Service (AFS), and Spanish clubs, and volunteers at the local animal shelter. She also helps keep the environment clean by picking up litter near her school. In addition, Jelena has attended two major leadership conferences.
Congratulations, Jelena!
