   We are pleased to announce Annika Wendel as the March 2023 CBYX German Participant of the Month! Annika, a Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) Young Professionals participant placed by Cultural Vistas, is hosted in Emporia, Kansas.

2. Tony Memmel and His Band: Back From Tour

   

   After his #AmericanMusicAbroad tour, guitarist Tony Memmel, shares how music helped him connect with youth with physical differences around the world.

3. Stevens Initiative

   The Stevens Initiative was launched in 2015 as a living memorial and to continue the legacy of U.S. Ambassador to Libya J. Christopher Stevens, who studied abroad in Europe and served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Morocco. The Initiative is a public-private partnership that is building global competencies and 21st century skills for young people in the United States and the Middle East and North Africa. Through virtual exchange, the Initiative connects youth through technology to collaborate and learn together, giving them access to a substantive international exchange. Through an open competition managed by the Aspen Institute, sub-grants are awarded to organizations to implement virtual exchanges.

4. College Students in South Carolina Connect with Peers in Egypt and Lebanon

   “It is one thing to read a book or article on the region, and a whole other ball game when it comes to actually getting to interact with the people who live there."

5. Fulbright Travel-Only Grants

   Grants for international travel are available to Germany, Hungary and Italy to supplement other fellowships that do not include travel costs or to supplement a student's own funds for study/research.

6. U.S. Student Uses ‘Gangnam Style’ to Depict Daily Life in China

   Comedians spend much of their time learning jokes, rehearsing lines and practicing delivery. For Fulbright U.S. Student Jesse Appell, however, the first step isn’t about the lines – it’s about being proficient in Chinese.
