[speaking Turkish] Benim adım Liz.
[speaking English] My name is Liz.
I am a CLS Alumna. I studied Turkish with CLS for two summers.
I was in Ankara the summer of 2011 and izmir the summer of 2012.
The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) program is an opportunity to actually immerse yourself in
a specific culture and a language and really kind of become a part of that culture
and experience that country first hand.
I work for the Turkish Coalition of America
and I work on their scholarship program, we give scholarships for people
who are going to study abroad in Turkey.
I also work with Turkish Americans.
The ability to have experience in Turkey has really helped me quite a lot in my job because
I now have a very specific focus in something.
And I have a little bit more expertise and authority in Turkey and just that culture than I had before.
Some of the most, my most amazing relationships have come from CLS
and meeting these people I probably never would have met
They were some of the hardest months of my life because it was very, it was hot and it was a lot of work.
But it was some of the most rewarding experiences I've ever had.
And I am where I am right now because of that.
