There's not a lot of stability in the world. You have to learn the lesson early that you never know what's going to happen. You must absolutely rethink every aspect of your business. Everything you used to do that worked for you may no longer work.
The businesses that are going to do best are the one's who just deeply think about their product-market fit. If you are selling a product but your ad campaign was made six months ago and it's all happiness and smiles it may not resonate in the same way than if you talk to them and say listen we know you are home right now and so we are going to help you live a better life when you are stuck at home.
If you build a personal connection with your clients and with people who consume your products, you have a direct line to them like you can actually reach out to them, you might find that they are very much willing to support you so being very smart about collecting data and communicating in a thoughtful way with your customers is really important. There are many ways of us to think about how to leverage digital and the great thing about doing that is that digital is only going to continue to increase so we all need to find a way to do that.
This company before COVID sold 80 percent of their products to business cafeterias and restaurants and so basically overnight they lost the vast majority of their sales and they quickly changed their business to become much more digital and they have now redone their website, improved the way that they serve clients, changed the way they do customer service, leaned heavily into social media and email marketing and branding and storytelling.
Everybody is helping each other out. Don't be afraid to reach out to people who might be able to help you and ask them for their advice or their help and do the same for others. Reach and say how can I help you. Maybe things could happen that wouldn't happen at a normal time.
