This city-born young man from bustling Berlin is having the time of his life in rural Montana! In his “Dear Host Family” letter, Jeremy expressed interest in being placed with a family with pets. His wish was answered: Jeremy’s host family lives outside of the small town of Terry down a very long country road, where cattle roam free and a pickup truck is mandatory. Together with his two host siblings, Jeremy now helps to care for the family dogs, cats, goats, geese, and sheep.
Jeremy didn't waste any time getting involved at school. When he’s not managing the Terry High School Terriers girls’ varsity volleyball team, he can be found volunteering as the team's mascot - The Terry Terrier! Additionally, Jeremy is volunteering at the school's STEM after-school program for grades K-6. Jeremy helps with learning activities as requested by the Director such as using math manipulatives or just plain old having fun and playing with the rambunctious children! Jeremy has even taught the children a few words in German. Most recently, Jeremy took part in the annual fall fundraiser at the Prairie County Hospital Foundation, where he helped with setup and clean-up while also helping with children’s games during the event. Jeremy has accumulated nearly 100 hours of volunteer service in his host community in Montana. Academically, Jeremy is acing all his classes and hopes to join the basketball team. He also was crowned "Prince" at his school's homecoming dance! Without a doubt, Jeremy is embracing his exchange experience wholeheartedly. He enjoys cheering on the volleyball team, participating in Spirit Week, and just hanging out at home with his host family.
Jeremy has an infectious smile and positive attitude. He is jumping fully into the “American way of life” and enjoying sharing about his life in Germany. He says, "This program gives me the opportunity to fulfill my wish and I am very grateful for that. I am enjoying every day and passionately trying my best to fulfill my obligations as a Junior Ambassador."
Congratulations, Jeremy!
