Marija Srejic, a World Link student from Serbia, is having an amazingly successful exchange year! She eagerly seeks volunteer opportunities and has found several ways to help her host community. Marija volunteers twice a week with a children’s literacy program and tutors an elementary student. Both the literacy group and the child’s mother commend Marija’s loyalty and dedication to the program.
During the holiday season, Marija filled and donated a shoebox for Operation Christmas Child. She also volunteered to distribute food at the local food bank, helped children during a local Winter Family Festival, set up and worked a booth at the Kiwanis North Pole Craft Fair, and collected dolls for the American Doll Drive.
Marija’s accomplishments don’t stop there! She is an honor student at her host school and a member of the Key Club, United Countries Club, and Movie Club. She enjoys giving cultural presentations at school and is teaching her classmates traditional Serbian dances and often bakes them tasty Serbian treats to try.
Marija was also recognized at her school awards breakfast. Her American History teacher presented the award and said, “Marija is one of the most enthusiastic students with whom I have ever come in contact. She is gracious, has an innate love of learning and a contagious positive attitude. Marija is excited to be in America and pours herself wholeheartedly into everything she does. Marjia is more than an excellent student; she is a wonderful person. Marija radiates warmth, light and generosity and she brightens the whole room!”
Congratulations, Marija!
