1. Improving Lives through Innovation

   John O’Loughlin Kennedy has been selected as the U.S. Department of State’s Alumni Member of the Month in recognition of his entrepreneurial and humanitarian efforts that have improved lives around the globe.

2. Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Program - Eligibility & Application

   The Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) Program, an element of the Fulbright U.S. Student Program, places recent college graduates and young professionals as English teaching assistants in primary and secondary schools or universities overseas. This program is an English For All initiative.

3. Overcoming Culture Shock Through Volunteer Work

   Instead of withdrawing or isolating herself, Westmoreland overcame her culture shock by doing an activity she enjoys in the U.S. – volunteering.

4. The Rift, the Rhyme, and the Rhythm Road

   

   Oscar Williams, Jr. and Perfected Praise demonstrate how they plan to teach the fundamentals of gospel music during their Rhythm Road tour abroad.

5. A-SMYLE Student of the Month – May 2014

   Aleksandra Velickovic, a FLEX World Link student from Serbia, thrived throughout the exchange year. In addition to participating in her host school's Interact Club, Debate Team, and Drama Club, she maintained all A’s and a 4.33 GPA, and was named a Platinum Star for her academic achievements.

6. United States Expands Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative

   President Obama announced the expansion of YSEALI, the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative he first launched in 2013, to bring 500 exceptional young leaders from ASEAN countries.

7. American Abroad Student of the Month – November 2014

   National Security Language Initiative for Youth participant Sam Christensen volunteers teaching English at the local primary school in Changzhou, China while improving his Mandarin language skills.

8. EducationUSA Academy

   EducationUSA Academy is a two-to-four week academic program which provides college preparatory content including specialized courses in various fields, English and academic writing courses, tours of diverse college and university campuses, and cultural activities to 15- to 17-year old, mostly self-funded students from around the world.

9. American Abroad Student of the Month - April 2015

   Easton, Massachusetts native Daniel Herschlag hit the ground running when he landed in Bosnia and Herzegovina for his YES Abroad exchange program, learning the language quickly and getting involved with numerous clubs and volunteer organizations.

10. A-SMYLE Student of the Month – May 2015

    Milica Jovanovic, a CIEE-placed American Serbia and Montenegro Youth Leadership Exchange (A-SMYLE) student from Serbia, was an active member of her host community, volunteering for over 100 hours, participating in the school musical and the swim and dive team, and holding presentations about Serbian history and culture.
